MSFHR 2018 Convening and Collaborating (C2) Competition

The MSFHR Convening & Collaborating (C2) Program builds capacity for the development and use of research evidence in practice, policy and further research by promoting knowledge exchange between health researchers and research users.

C2 awards support teams of health researchers and research users planning and carrying out collaborative activities such as stakeholder consultations, public engagement or co-development of research methodologies.

Key dates:

  • Applications open: September 8, 2017

  • Application deadline: October 27, 2017 (4:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time)
  • Anticipated notice of funding decision: Mid-January 2018
  • Anticipated start of funding: March 1, 2018

2018 C2 competition details:

  • Maximum award amounts of $15,000.
  • Award term of up to 12 months.
  • Each team must include:
    • A minimum of one researcher and one research user as co-leads.
    • At least one BC research/health professional trainee (e.g. undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral and/or clinical fellow) as a team member included in a meaningful way to enhance their knowledge translation experience and skills. The trainee may also fulfill the role as research user co-lead, if applicable.
  • The researcher co-lead that serves as the primary applicant must be based in BC and affiliated with a BC host institution that has a signed memorandum of understanding with MSFHR to administer award funds.
  • All award funds must be used in BC.
  • The proposed work must directly address one or more of the BC health system priorities: 1) enhanced access to effective primary health care, 2) services for seniors with complex medical conditions, 4) mental health/substance use care, 4) services for patients needing surgery, and 5) rural and remote health care services.

Based on feedback from the 2017 C2 competition, MSFHR has made the following adjustments to the application process:

  • Extended the application submission period.
  • Streamlined third party requirements.
  • Permitted the research user co-lead and trainee roles to be filled by the same person (if all eligibility criteria for both roles are met).
