Summary:

Seagen is seeking a highly collaborative Research Scientist to lead research activities supporting drug development candidates and early-stage investigational clinical agents. This individual is expected to contribute to the team goals by performing laboratory work and, depending on the experience, serve as Research Lead on cross-functional project teams focused on biologic therapeutics for oncology. They should be able to quickly pivot among projects as needed, and have a record of being a strong scientist, team player, strategic thinker, and an effective communicator.  

Principal responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements research plans aimed at expanding our understanding of therapeutic MOAs, predictors of sensitivity and resistance, and combination strategies as they emerge and evolve
  • Identifies critical path experiments aligned with research and development project team goals.
  • Prioritizes resources in alignment with the research leadership team
  • Work independently and demonstrate the ability to contribute to projects outside their expertise
  • Serves as a single research point of contact for cross-functional/interdepartmental research activities that support regulatory filings and expanded clinical opportunities
  • Ensure pharmacology studies are appropriately documented and summarized
  • Collaborate with clinical and translational sciences to help guide the clinical development strategy for novel therapeutic
  • May provide research support/oversight for external collaborations
  • Communicate learnings from translational and clinical studies to the therapeutic design research group to maximize the potential of pre-clinical molecules
  • May provide research support/oversight for external collaborations and/or MTAs and represent research on advisory boards. Presents research at scientific conferences, key contributor to regulatory documents and peer-reviewed publications
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Immunology, or another related field
  • Candidates with a BS or MS degree but extensive drug development experience in a biotech industry setting will also be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of postdoctoral experience in oncology preclinical and translational research or in the biotech industry
  • Knowledge and expertise in oncology drug development, therapeutic antibodies, and/or ADCs.
  • Experience with in-vitro hematological and solid tumor cell lines and primary samples
  • Strong background in experimental cancer biology, biochemical and/or immunological techniques (e.g. multiparametric flow cytometry, Elisa, Western blot, lentiviral delivery, immunofluorescence)
  • Broad knowledge of cancer cell signaling and genetics
  • Proven proficiency in the design of in vivo experiments as well as sample assessment using a variety of laboratory techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences
  • Experience working in cross-functional matrix teams
  • Demonstrated record of publications in high-quality scientific journals and/or presentations at scientific conferences
