Project in the Lack Lab

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed non-skin cancer in Canadian men and one of the leading causes of cancer-related death. At almost all stages of the disease, the androgen receptor (AR) is essential to the growth and proliferation of the cancer. Yet, despite the importance of AR signaling many questions still remain about this critical nuclear receptor.  Our laboratory is focused on interrogating the molecular mechanism of AR-mediated transcription using novel experimental techniques.

In this CIHR funded project, the successful applicant will investigate the role of the binding function site 3 in androgen receptor mediated transcription. Specifically, we will utilize functional genomics and proximity proteomics to delineate the role of this important site.  The successful applicant will work in a multi-disciplinary research team with access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities in collaboration with national and international research groups and pharmaceutical companies.
