The Department of Medicine at University of British Columbia seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to conduct research in the laboratory of Dr. Neil Reiner.  The Reiner lab focuses on innate immunity, macrophage cell regulation and the molecular pathogenesis of leishmania infection.  The research project will focus on studying the pathogenesis of leishmania infection and the role of transcription factor c-Myc in particular (Pubmed ID 29934305). This will involve genomic (chromatin immunoprecipitation-seq using c-Myc antibody) and proteomic approaches (Stable Isotope Labeling by Amino acids in Cell culture) to identify the full range of c-Myc dependent changes in macrophages infected with Leishmania. Also, studies are in progress to examine the role of PI3K as a master regulator of innate immunity to leishmania, and the contributions of small, non-coding RNAs to leishmania pathogenesis.

The successful candidate will have a Ph. D. in a relevant field.  Experience in immunological assays, chromatin immunoprecipitation, RNA-seq, macrophage cell signaling, and biology of host-pathogen interaction is an advantage.

The period of employment is 2-5 years.

Interested individuals should send a cover letter, CV, and the names/phone numbers of three people who could provide letters of reference by email to nreiner@mail.ubc.ca. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
