About the company:

Dalriada Therapeutics Inc. is a Canadian start-up focusing on the development of novel small molecules and natural products for a range of therapeutic and diagnostic applications. With broad expertise in drug discovery and chemosensor technologies, the company’s efforts are currently centred on the preclinical development of a novel class (DT1) of small molecule inhibitors in cancers of the blood and brain as well as proliferative skin pathologies. Dalriada is engaged in the development of small molecule-based diagnostic technologies for Alzheimer’s disease and infections. In addition to these R&D activities, Dalriada offers services in medicinal chemistry and custom synthesis.

Skills:

An ideal candidate would be a self-motivated person with demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, have strong interpersonal skills and excellent problem solving skills. The candidate should have a strong scientific knowledge ideally combined with interest in business management and development. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Education:

A minimum of BSc in biology or a related field; preference will be given to candidates with a PhD degree.

Experience:

Min 5 Yr experience with mouse models, PhD/MSc work counts toward the experience. Experience handling and boarding various mouse strains, performing IP, IV, subcutaneous, oral and topical administration of agents, drawing and preserving blood samples, planning and conducting bio- distribution studies with the isolation of organs, storage of biological tissues; experience with topical models of disease including dermatitis, psoriasis and inflammation is preferred; preparation of ethics protocols; performing DMPK studies; mouse breeding, training others in the animal work. Experience in grant writing is an asset.

Knowledge and training:

Animal physiology, preclinical animal studies, training and certification requirements, government regulations, disposal of biological materials, ethics protocol preparation, establishment and adaptation of protocols.

Duties:

Purchasing of mice and all need supplies and reagents, maintaining the inventory, design and perform animal trials for the assessment of therapeutic efficacy of investigational agents, design and perform DMPK studies, mouse breeding and boarding; prepare and manage ethics approval, maintain collaboration with the animal facility, ensure compliance with the regulatory and safety governmental and institutional requirements, provide needed training to employees and oversee their work, maintain well organized experimental and regulatory documentation, report to the company’s management team, maintain the organization and cleanliness of the laboratory space, maintain and arrange for all permits required for the operation of the lab, maintain expense records, assist in the preparation of grant application. The candidate is expected to be driven by scientific excellency as well as cost- and process- efficiency approach in his day-to-day operations.

Other:

Candidates will have to pass an RCMP/FBI security clearance as condition for employment.
