The Vancouver Prostate Centre (VPC) has an exceptional opportunity available for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow, Daugaard Lab to join our research team.

The VPC has a large number of multi-disciplinary research programs in basic, clinic, and translational cancer research. It is a National Centre of Excellence and a designated Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research. Daugaard Lab

The Daugaard laboratory focuses on innovative research in molecular cancer biology developing biotechnology for diagnostic and therapeutic use in different cancer indications. The successful applicant will work in a multi-disciplinary research team with access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities in collaboration with national and international research groups and pharmaceutical companies.

The dysregulation of the 3’UTR landscape is a fundamental signature of many types of cancer. In this CIHR funded project, the successful applicant will have to interrogate the mechanisms underlying alternative poly-adenylation (APA) of 3’UTRs of oncogene-induced mRNAs and assess the impact hereof on tumor initiation and progression. The project is part of a collaboration with SickKids Hospital in Toronto, ON.

Qualifications and Requirements

• PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or similar.
• Demonstrated experience in RNA molecular biology.
• Proven ability to work independently.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Statistical data analysis and database management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Friendly, organized, and detail-oriented team player.
