Project Description

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a debilitating condition that leads to painful, stiff and swollen joints.  A major injury like an ACL tear or a meniscus tear effectively doubles ones risk of developing knee OA. There are numerous factors that contribute to the development of OA, but they are not completely understood. And while surgeries and other treatments to repair damaged tissues such as the ACL and meniscus offer certain benefits, their success is not universal. My research endeavors to better understand why.
