Project Description

The overarching goal of our current research projects is to issue recommendations about running and knee joint health and facilitate knowledge transfer to the community of runners and to healthcare practitioners. To do so, we are comparing the effects of running on knee cartilage integrity in runners with and without knee osteoarthritis using the most recent advances in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We also conduct 3D analyses of running biomechanics in runners with and without knee osteoarthritis, and evaluate the effects of running gait modifications on symptoms and function. Finally, we are evaluating the perception of the public and health professionals about running and knee osteoarthritis using a nationwide survey.
