A panel of scientist professionals will discuss their post-graduate-school lives and work, and their efforts to engage in social justice, diversity, advocacy, and inclusion as part of their life and/or work. As science begins to come to grips with the need to increase diversity in its workforce, scientists at all levels of career types are working towards change in their respective professional roles. Come learn how they are achieving their goals while not being in a formal diversity position. Representing career paths in academia, research, science policy, and non-profits, panelists will talk about how their career choices and extracurricular activities leverage their scientific knowledge to positively impact marginalized and oppressed populations.

Panelists:

Sampson Abu, O.D., Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Alabama at Birmingham

Mark Bernard, Ph.D., Postdoctoral Research Fellow, SUNY Downstate Medical Center

Mark Dibner, Ph.D., MBA, President, BioAbility LLC; Chairman & Founder, Kramden Institute, Inc.
