Post-Doctoral Position in Women's Reproductive Health

The research team of Professors Bernard Crespi, PhD (Biology, SFU), Paul Yong, MD, PhD (Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, UBC, and Women's Hospital), Jerilynn C. Prior, MD (Endocrinology & Metabolism, Department of Medicine, and CeMCOR, UBC), Professor Sarah Purcell, PhD (Land and Food Sciences, UBC) and Professor Pablo Nepomnaschy PhD (Health Sciences, SFU), is currently seeking a highly motivated, full-time Postdoctoral Researcher (PDR).

The research involves ground-breaking work into the roles of brown adipose tissue in the etiologies and symptoms of endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome, compared with healthy, regularly-cycling and ovulatory controls. The PDR will be expected to: (1) engage in the recruitment of participants, (2) collect data on brown adipose tissue using infrared thermography and other energy status methods, as well as (3) collect physical and hormone data, (4) participate in data analysis and the preparation of manuscripts, (5) participate in mentoring of other scientists on the project, and (6) engage with other team activities, and in the development of further related research. A PhD or MD with training in endocrinology, gynecology, metabolism, human female reproduction, human biology, anthropology, and/or a related field, is required, and the candidate should have a solid scientific background with well-developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and clinical or other experience working with humans in research settings.
