Helmholtz Zentrum München

Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus and lung diseases. Helmholtz Zentrum München is a member of the Helmholtz Association, Germany's largest scientific organization.

The program supports highly talented postdocs in the development of a competitive scientific profile for a successful scientific career in academic research or industry. For the PFP2015, we are recruiting postdocs for the following research subjects:

  • Mechanisms of soma-to-germline information transfer and transgenerational epigenetic inheritance (Institute of Experimental Genetics)
  • RNA processing & splicing (Institute of Molecular Toxicology and Pharmacology)
  • High-dimensional integration of omics and phenotypic screening data (Institute of Computational Biology)
  • Deciphering the functional role of the proteasomal activator PA200 in vivo (Institute of Lung Biology and Disease)
  • Machine learning in high-dimensional biological data sets (Institute of Computational Biology)

Talented postdocs who are accepted into the three-year program will focus on a research project and will be integrated into international and interdisciplinary research groups at the Center. An experienced research mentor and a personal coach will create an individual career plan together with the postdoctoral fellows and prepare them for their next career step in scientific leadership positions. Personal travel grants will enable them to meet up regularly with international colleagues to exchange ideas and to build up international networks. In addition to a modular training program for acquiring leadership qualifications, the postdoctoral fellows will receive professional assistance in acquiring external funding.

The deadline for applications is April 15, 2015. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend our interview days on July 1-3, 2015 in Munich. Application guidelines and further information can be found on our website: www.helmholtz-muenchen.de/fellows
