Postdoctoral fellows garner recognition

UBC’s postdoctoral fellows were in the spotlight last week during UBC’s sixteenth annual National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) celebrations.

The annual celebrations recognize the significant and invaluable contributions made by UBC’s postdoctoral community. UBC’s Postdoctoral Fellows Office held a series of events including a grant writing panel, Coffee and Chat sessions with both the Senior Manager and Senior Advisor of Postdoctoral Affairs, and a session on the academic job search with the Dean and Vice-Provost pro tem Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies.

The week culminated in a standing-room only barbeque at the Nest – an annual celebration where postdocs enjoyed a catered buffet and received prizes generously donated by a series of on- and off-campus donors while connecting and building community with colleagues across UBC. These events brought together more than 150 postdocs from a wide variety of departments and faculties on and off campus.

Throughout the week, faculties and units across UBC were encouraged to recognize and celebrate their postdocs by sharing on social media and hosting their own NPAW events.

Although the official week is over, we encourage supervisors and the UBC community at large to recognize the contributions made by their postdocs!

Thank you, postdocs, for all that you do to support research at UBC!
