UBC has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People in 2021, for the ninth consecutive year. This special designation recognizes the employers that offer the nation’s best workplaces and programs for young people starting their careers.
For the eighth consecutive year, the PDFO has received special acknowledgement for the support, advocacy, and professional development opportunities provided to UBC’s postdoctoral community. The PDFO’s flagship initiative is the Foundations of Career Planning program, a three-part workshop series supplemented with sessions in personal and professional effectiveness, academic growth, career building and leadership. In addition to this program, the PDFO is proud to offer semi-annual orientation sessions for incoming postdocs, as well as professional development workshops on topics such as time management, project management and grant writing.
In addition to the services provided by the PDFO, Postdoctoral Fellows are encouraged to take part in workplace wellbeing initiatives at both our Vancouver and Okanagan campuses, and are encouraged to participate in the PDFO’s annual National Postdoc Appreciation Week celebrations.
