Dr. J.A. Campbell Young Investigator Award

An award of up to $5,000 is offered by the Canadian Celiac Association for work done in Canada (or by an investigator from Canada temporarily working elsewhere and committed to return to Canada) of a scientific, applied science, medical, and/or social nature relevant to celiac disease (gluten-induced enteropathy), dermatitis herpetiformis or other gluten related disorders.





Application Procedures

Electronic application must include the following:

From the applicant:

  1. Statement about interest in this research and this how the research will advance career plans (1 page limit),
  2. Current C/V

From the mentor/supervisor (2 page limit):

  1. Assessment of the applicant,
  2. Statement of commitment to facilitating the project,
  3. Statement regarding how the work will enhance the applicant’s training.

From the applicant or mentor/supervisor:

  1. Project goals, rationale and paragraph summary of research suitable for the public,
  2. Description of the research including aims, methods, and statement about how the research will advance knowledge. Limit to two (2) pages plus appropriate supportive references.
  3. Itemized budget for salary, materials, supplies and services (1 page). Travel will not be funded.

If this award is sought in conjunction with the JA Campbell Research Grant, include a statement outlining how the funds for each award will be separately used.

Eligibility Summary

The individual must be a trainee in a recognized Medical or Health Sciences School, University Undergraduate, or Graduate Training Program.

Evaluation Criteria

The Professional Advisory Council of the Canadian Celiac Association will make a decision regarding the winner or winners, based on the suitability and quality of the proposed work. The Council may seek the expertise of an external reviewer if necessary. The recommendation of the Professional Advisory Council will be forwarded to the Executive Committee of the Canadian Celiac Association for final approval.
