Whether you're looking for tips or advice on how to better file your taxes as a postdoc, or are new to Canada and need an overview of the Canadian tax system, this information session and Q&A will provide you with the information you need. The session comprises a 45-minute presentation followed by a Q&A period with the facilitators. The session aims to address:
- The general process for filing a tax return and individual responsibilities for filing a Canadian tax return
- Eligible versus in-eligible tax deductions
- International tax treaties
- Paying taxes on international income
- Scholarships/fellowships and bursaries
- Tax exemptions
As part of the registration form, registrants will be able to submit questions in advance that will be circulated to the KPMG team one week before the session. We will endeavor to answer as many questions as possible during the session, but may not be able to provide responses if questions are very situation-specific.
