Acacia Markov

Project Description

Developing open-source tools to assess and map coastal flood risks, accounting for tides, storm surge, sea-level rise and other complex factors. This numerical modeling work is part of a multi-institutional Coastal Hazards work package, under the umbrella of a nation-wide collaboration for developing an Open-Source Flood Risk Analysis Network (Open-FRANC) across Canada.

Advancing numerical predictive tools to guide saltmarsh restoration and vegetation-based coastal infrastructure design. Current approach couples hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics (TELEMAC) with a cellular automaton for vegetation dynamics.
