The Faculty of Education at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia seeks to fill the following faculty position and invites applications for the following tenure track appointment at the Assistant Professor level commencing July 1, 2023.
The Faculty offers pre-service teacher education (BEd), Master of Education and PhD programming, and is seeking candidates who are committed to contributing to StFX’s priorities of equity, diversity and inclusion. Candidates are asked to indicate concretely in their application how they will contribute to the EDI efforts of our university.
The successful candidate will contribute to both on-campus and off-campus offerings; as such, some travel will be required, and experience with both synchronous and asynchronous modes of online instruction are considered assets.
Assistant Professor in Educational Leadership commencing July 1, 2023. The successful candidate will be cross-appointed to the Departments of Teacher Education and Curriculum & Leadership. Teaching will be primarily in the Master of Education program, with some additional teaching in the Bachelor of Education program, including supervision of pre-service teacher practica and graduate student research. The candidate should have a completed or nearly completed earned doctorate and previous elementary/secondary teaching experience is also a requirement. Leadership experience as school or system-based administrator is also considered an asset. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an emerging or established research program in the following area: Educational administration and policy, with a focus on P-12 school leadership. Sub-discipline expertise in one or more of the following areas is required: dynamics of change, professional development and supervision, and contemporary issues in public education.
