RECRUITMENT OF A POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW ON MIGRATION GOVERNANCE AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN CANADA

CANADA RESEARCH CHAIR ON GLOBAL MIGRATION PROCESSES (Université Laval, Département de géographie, Québec City, Canada)

The Canada Research Chair on Global Migration Processes is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow for a duration of 12 months starting in September 2024 (renewable for a second year, subject to performance and available funding). The selected individual will work on the effects of automation and artificial intelligence in migration governance in Canada.

This project is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The fellow will be integrated into the research team of the Canada Research Chair on Global Migration Dynamics and will work closely with its holder, Danièle Bélanger, as well as Professor Adèle Garnier, a member of the chair and director of CELAT.

RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with the collective agreement for postdoctoral fellows at Université Laval (Annex B, job description), the recruited individual will be expected to:

  • Participate in the development and management of the research project. Establish timelines, priorities, and necessary resources.
  • Conduct literature reviews, conceptualize sub-projects, and plan the theoretical framework and operationalization.
  • Generate scientific knowledge by analyzing data and interpreting results.
  • Write various documents, including protocols, procedures, reports, peer-reviewed scientific articles, abstracts, and other presentation media.
  • Participate in scientific conferences as a presenter; organize and engage in knowledge mobilization activities for audiences beyond the scientific community.
  • Contribute to the training or mentoring of other team members involved in the project (graduate students, etc.).

This postdoctoral fellowship is conditional upon the renewal of the Canada Research Chair on Global Migration Dynamics.

START DATE OF POSTDOCTORAL INTERNSHIP No later than September 1, 2024.
