This workshop covers scope and time management concepts and tools, as well as communication and risk management. At the end of the workshop, trainees will have been introduced to: project management terminology (milestones, objectives, Gantt chart); benefits of defining and managing project scope to maximize the potential to achieve project goals; step-by-step approach to establishing a schedule for project activities; project risk assessment tools.

The session also includes a discussion of tools and techniques for individuals to better manage their own productivity and organization. There will be group activities to demonstrate and apply the scope and time management approaches.

 

About the Facilitator:

Robyn Roscoe is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with 13 years of experience in the management of large health research projects, and over 20 years experience in project management in scientific and technical fields. She is currently Director of Management and Administration for the BC Cancer Agency Genome Sciences Centre (GSC), and is responsible for project and finance management. Together with the team of 20 project managers and coordinators, Robyn is responsible for management of all project and platform work at the GSC, representing a total portfolio of nearly $150M. Robyn has previously worked in the environment sector and oil & gas industry as a project manager, operations specialist and environmental manager. She holds a BSc from the University of Manitoba.

Robyn is committed to expanding knowledge and interest in the field of research project management, and has developed a series of presentations and workshops aimed at enabling successful research through sound management and leadership.
