The most common form of presentation is speaking with slides.  This workshop answers the following questions:  How can you make your presentations not only more effective, but also interesting?  This workshop applies principles from neurology and psychology to create and work with visual presentations that will enthrall your audience, keep them guessing and wanting more.

Learning Outcomes

  • A toolbelt of cognitive & neurological mind hacks that will make you standout when speaking
  • An understanding of the physical characteristics that communicate confidence and create a strong impressions when speaking
  • How to communicate ideas that will enhance retention and convince others of your ideas

Facilitator

Ivan Wanis Ruiz

Ivan Wanis Ruiz is a communications expert with a unique background.  Originally trained in facilitation by the Ministry of Attorney General’s Office in British Columbia he has since become Advanced Toastmaster Gold, Certified trainer for the Dale Carnegie Business group and holds a certificate in Adult education.  He has owned and operated 2 small businesses and has worked in Human Resources, Finance and Sales.  He is also a trained actor and has been featured in films like Rise of the Planet of the Apes and guest starred on TV shows such as Covert Affairs and Supernatural to name a few.   He is also a graduate of the Second City and performs regularly in Toronto. 

Ivan is an accomplished educator and has been a guest lecturer at the UBC Sauder School of Business for the past 5 years training students in case analysis and effective presentations.
