Kick-Off Event: How Can Digital Health Work for You?

The virtual kick-off event will feature a captivating keynote speaker who will introduce the BC Government’s province-wide vision for digital health, a presentation of a novel digital health research and hospital implementation roadmap, and a panel discussion from WHRI and BCCHR researchers who are leveraging technologies to improve health and wellness in BC.

  • Keynote Speaker: Shannon Malovec, Chief Digital Innovation Officer at PHSA
  • Presentation of Research to Implementation Roadmap: Laurence Bayzand, Executive Director, Intercampus Operations, and Jennifer Krempien, Director of Patient Support Services at BC Children's Hospital and BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre.

Discussion Panelists:

  1. Dr. Lori Brotto, Executive Director of WHRI, Professor at the UBC OBGYN Department, and Director of UBC Sexual Health Laboratory. Dr. Brotto also holds a Canada Research Chair in Women's Sexual Health. She is leading the creation of digital tools to support women experiencing sexual dysfunction with CBT and evidence-based treatment.
  2. Dr. Gina Ogilvie, Assistant Director of WHRI, Professor in the UBC School of Population & Public Health, and senior scientist at BCCDC. Dr. Ogilvie is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair at Global Control of HPV Related Disease and Cancer. She leads research leveraging digital tools to make HPV testing and cervical cancer screening more accessible.
  3. Dr. Tim Oberlander, a physician-scientist whose work bridges developmental neurosciences and community child health. Dr. Oberlander developed the Living Lab at Home as a digital platform to accelerate real world studies of developmental plasticity, resiliency and recovery.
  4. Dr. Shazhan Amed, is a pediatric endocrinologist and Head of Division of Endocrinology at BC Children's Hospital and Clinical Professor at UBC. Dr. Amed leads Trustsphere, a digital health solution being developed by researchers and industry partners and co-created with children and families living with type 1 diabetes as well as pediatric diabetes clinicians.

Panel Moderator: Dr. Alexandra Greenhill, CEO and CMO of Careteam Technologies.

Our target audiences for this event are: researchers, clinicians, hospital administration and allied health professionals, industry, health care decision-makers, and others interested in digital health research.
