The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of British Columbia invites applications for a full time post-doctoral fellow on the etiology of adverse tissue reactions to total hip implants. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to work with a research team from Orthopaedics (Dr. Bas Masri, Dr. Nelson Greidanus, Dr. Clive Duncan, Dr. Don Garbuz), Pathology (Dr. Tony Ng), Cell biology (Dr. Michael Cox), and Materials Engineering (Dr. Rizhi Wang). The postdoctoral fellow will be working primarily at the Centre for Hip Health and Mobility, University of British Columbia. Expected experimental studies include, but not limited to, histological, cellular and biochemical analyses of the soft tissues developed around the implants, metal ion and biomarker analyses in serum and fluid, analyses of corrosion products in the tissues, as well as in vitro cellular studies.
It will be a one-year appointment renewable by another year, based on performance. The position is available after March 1, 2017 until it is filled. Starting salary is $45,000 per annum.
